What is Army Cadets?

Army Cadets is a national program for Canadian youth aged 12 to 18 that aims to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate the interest of youth in the land activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Army cadets learn to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society through citizenship and community-service activities, while participating in variety of outdoor related activities including: orienteering, first-aid, camping and survival skills, canoeing, abseiling, trekking, and mountain biking.

The Army Cadet Program is delivered by the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, in partnership with the Army Cadet League of Canada and local communities. Steeped in a rich history, the program continues to provide Canadian youth with opportunities to develop valuable life and work skills such as self-confidence, self-esteem, communication, leadership, teamwork and respect for others while having fun and building lifelong friendships.
